Gladys is an energetic individual who finds comfort in family and friends. As a scholar in 2003, she gained so much at Quest that she was determined to come back to the organization and help in any capacity. During her freshman year at Stanford, she did just that. Besides tackling the various family situations that came her way, she was able to work at the Quest office part-time. In addition to attending classes and working for Quest, Gladys also tutored within the "Habla La Noche" program at Stanford, a group that aims to teach English to native Spanish speakers. Having grown up translating for her parents, this was a particularly meaningful extra-curricular for Gladys. Her passion and dedication to community service also led Gladys to become an Arbor Medical Interpreter, a position in which she could use her bilingual skills once again within her field of interest--medicine. Although the youngest of three, most would say that Gladys is not the typical baby of the family; rather, her deep concerns for everyone push her to assume the motherly role in many situations. Nevertheless, that is not to say that Gladys is a stern, authoritative person. On the contrary, she is a firm believer in the adage that "laughter is the best medicine," and everyone who has ever come in contact with her can say that her laughter is contagious. A rising sophomore at Stanford, Gladys plans on majoring in human biology or anthropology and minoring in Italian.
