Additional Information about Leadership Conference and Interviews—schedule, etc. The QuestLeadership Conference and Interview is a full-day experience, and applicants will be invited to attend one of six interview days. Two interview days will be held on the East Coast, on or near the Harvard campus, and four will be held on the West Coast, on the Stanford campus. Interviews are by invitation only, and Semi-Finalists will be provided with dates, times, and exact location when they are notified of their status. The morning conference concludes with a presentation on QuestLeadership, a slideshow of the summer program, and a discussion for both parents and students about college financial aid. All of the workshops, and the presentation, are geared specifically toward Quest applicants—the information is presented in a candid fashion, and is specific to motivated, talented, low-income high school students. The presentations are based on tips and knowledge we have acquired from over ten years of helping Quest Scholars. Following a brief lunch break, applicants return for an afternoon of interviews. Students will be interviewed both in groups of 10-20, and in more individual settings, with two to three applicants and two to three interviewers. Our goal is to provide as many settings as possible for students with a variety of strengths to express themselves. Applicants will meet many past Quest Scholars, as well as the majority of our program staff. The QuestLeadership Conference and Interviews is free of charge to participants, as are all Quest events. Students will be responsible for their own transportation to the conference, and invited semi-finalists will be provided with travel-planning resources including carpool lists, and discount travel options. |
